A spectacular two-day event showcasing this year’s BBC Food and Farming finalists and winners
Borough Market has always been a place that brings together the best food from across Britain and further afield. Adding to this, we'll be holding a spectacular two-day event on 1st and 2nd July, where a selection of the winners and finalists from this year’s BBC Food and Farming awards will show off the exceptional produce that won them the admiration of the BBC’s famously rigorous panel of experts, who travel around the country in pairs visiting contenders from among the thousands of entrants.
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, during regular trading hours, we will be joined in the Market Hall by: Magic Rock Brewing Company from Huddersfield and Cairn o Mohr Winery from Perthshire—respectively the winner and finalist in the Best Drinks Producer category; Charcutier Ltd from Llanelli, winner of the Best Food Producer Award and finalist Bournes Cheese; and Pyclet Parlour from Derby, whose traditional flat crumpets gained a place in the final of the Best Street Food or Takeaway category. The latter prize was won by a trader with a somewhat shorter commute than the others: Borough Market’s very own Gourmet Goat.
Also in attendance will be Deirdre Woods, winner of BBC Cook of the Year award, who is set to take over the demonstration kitchen. Deirdre, a volunteer cook at the Granville Community Kitchen in South Kilburn, will be cooking a selection of recipes using surplus produce, turning ingredients that would have otherwise gone to waste into tasty and inspiring dishes.
