Drawing the best from the glorious British tomato
Great British Bake Off 2013 contestant and charming Welsh chef Beca Lyne-Pirkis is back at the demo kitchen this Friday, 20th May.
With summer just around the corner, Beca will be focusing on the glorious British tomato, and how to draw the best from these versatile fruits. Tomatoes in dried, marinated, roasted and raw forms will feature, along with Beca’s own take on how to get the best variety of textures and flavours when cooking.
This week the demo kitchen will be held from 12:30-2pm in Middle Road (not at our normal demo kitchen in the Market Hall—but only a stone’s throw away) so come and join us to see just why British tomatoes in season are delicious!
Her full menu will be:
Tomato and feta soda bread, bruschetta
‘Cream’ of tomato soup
Fresh tomato salsa
Open tomato tart two ways
Sundried tomato pesto straws
This demo kitchen is featured as part of British Tomato Week and National Vegetarian Week. Recipe cards, tasters and cooking tips will be in abundance so don’t miss it!
