The European ambassador for the International Year of Pulses (yes, that’s right!) will be cooking in the demo kitchen this Thursday, 19th May
Pulses have always played a central role in Jenny Chandler’s cooking and she’s even dedicated a book to delicious split peas, lentils, chickpeas and other grain legumes, showing us that there’s more to pulses than adding a can of kidney beans into a chilli.
Her focus this week will be on the carlin pea, recent winner at the BOOM awards and British equivalent to the chickpea.
The demo kitchen will be held from 12.30-2pm in Middle Road (not at our normal demo kitchen in the Market Hall—but only a stone’s throw away) so come and join us and see just how versatile these little known British peas are.
Her full menu will be:
Traditional ‘Lancashire style’ peas, served with salt and vinegar
Broad bean, orange and curd cheese salad
Lamb and carlin pea curry
Carlin pea hummus
All of Jenny’s recipes will be available to take away on the day, plus there’ll be plenty of tasters and cooking tips!
