Make seasonal fruit and vegetables the star of the show this October

Celia Brooks, vegetarian cookbook author and founder of “A Taste of Borough Market” – the Market’s only official tasting tour - will be giving four cookery demonstrations throughout the month of October. Conveying her inside knowledge of the Market’s produce and traders, Celia will be offering a plethora of ideas for techniques and dishes to enhance your seasonal vegetarian and vegan cooking repertoire. 

Celia will be showing you what a pleasure entertaining can be using the myriad of fruit and vegetables available at this time of year. Find out how seasonal plants provide a wealth of opportunity and options when combined with other delicious ingredients from the traders.

Breakfast of champions

Indian-style eggy bread two ways:
- Sweet
Pain au lait flavoured with cinnamon, cardamom and condensed milk
- Savoury
Sourdough flavoured with mustard seeds, turmeric, chilli, onion and ginger, topped with spiced fried tomatoes
Broccoli & miso tofu scramble (vegan)
Polenta porridge with creamy mushrooms, mascarpone and herbs

Parsnip and pear soup topped with Stilton and herbed croutons

Parmesan gelato and figs in chicory leaves
Avocado crostini with various toppings - roasted chilli & walnut puree, roasted aubergines, tangy chickpeas (vegan)
Chutney, cheese and caper rolls
Penang Rojak - apple, cucumber and mango pieces with skewers and Malaysian style chilli, lime syrup dip (vegan)
