Better Bankside and Tate Modern team up in a borough-wide art initiative
The Thames-side stretch from Borough Market to South Bank has got to be one of the buzziest areas of central London. With the likes of The Globe and National Theatre, the Tate and Millennium Eye, it’s a mishmash of old and new; historical and cutting edge. To give us a snippet of the well of creativity that lies behind the windows of the offices and institutions that line the way, Better Bankside is working with Tate Modern on a borough-wide art project, From The Other Side, in which businesses are encouraged to display a message on a wall or in a window made up of a few words that represent the makers’ personality, make a statement, or prompt dialogue with those around them.
As part of the project, the Market will be displaying the work of well-known slogan artist Bob and Roberta Smith (pictured above), in a print that feels particularly pertinent for our times: “There is still art. There is still hope.”
