We're supporting Social Saturday with a special stall on 14th October
Borough Market has always nurtured young, small businesses and social enterprises – supporting them to become strong and successful and a viable option for our shoppers. With traders such as Rubies in the Rubble, Change Please and the Golden Co growing from strength to strength, Borough Market is the natural home for a one day Social Saturday pop up –a movement that encourages customers to buy from social enterprises, businesses that put people and the planet first.
We hope you will join us in supporting our special Social Saturday stall on 14th October in our Market Hall. A selection of some of the most interesting, ethical, sustainable and planet friendly businesses will be showcasing their products, from chocolate to beer.
Chef Simon Boyle from social enterprise Brigade will also be doing a live cookery demonstration with some of the apprentices from the restaurant between 1-2pm. Brigade, a social enterprise based a stone’s throw away from Borough Market on Tooley Street, is set up to create employment opportunities for the homeless in catering and hospitality.
Following on from this there will be a chocolate tasting session between 2.30-3.30pm run by Divine Chocolate – a pioneering social enterprise majority owned by cocoa-farmers in Ghana.
So join us and discover new businesses and products and learn about the stories behind them. By coming down and supporting you’ll be doing your bit help the local and international community.
The stall will be open 10-5pm on Saturday.
