St George & the Dragon street theatre

24 April, 11.30am – 3pm

A MUSICAL ROMP FROM THE LIONS PART THEATRE COMPANY

On Sunday 24th April, to celebrate St George’s Day, the Lions part theatre company – based in Southwark, and a regular presence at Borough Market for many years – will be performing The Ballad of St George and the Dragon, an engaging piece of street theatre adapted by the company from a 500-year-old song. This colourful, comical telling of the saint’s story casts St George as a flawed and somewhat hapless knight who, after slaying the dragon, is filled with regret. Performances of this fun and fabulous musical romp, which are free to watch, will take place around the Green Market and Market Hall, from 11.30am to 3pm.
