The Easter Tree of Hope
13 – 19 April

A TREE DECORATED WITH MESSAGES OF HOPE FROM THE MARKET COMMUNITY
Visit Borough Market this Easter to see our a four-metre-high Tree of Hope, decorated with more than 200 wooden eggs hand-painted by local schools, charities and friends of the Market.
The tree, surrounded by a cornucopia of fruit and vegetables from Market traders, will be situated on Middle Row, near the Market Bell. The eggs will be adorned with messages and drawings of hope, designed to lift people’s spirits and show solidarity in light of recent events.
Those who have contributed to the installation include schoolchildren involved in our Young Marketeers and Southwark Young Entrepreneurs programmes, the Plan Zheroes team who redistribute surplus food from the Market, members of the Borough Market Cookbook Club, the Southwark Cathedral community, and the Market’s traders and staff.
