Market Explorers Garden
15th – 16th April, 11am – 3pm
For the Easter holidays, we’ll be hosting two days of fun, inspiring activities designed to get primary-age children thinking about the food they eat. Located in a dedicated space within the Market, the Market Explorers Garden is free to explore and no bookings are required, but kids must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult. Activities include:
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
Get your hands on a range of fresh produce items hidden in a series of boxes, with the aim of identifying them through touch and smell alone. The difficulty of the challenge will vary with age, ranging from everyday produce to some of the Market’s more unusual offerings.
ARTS AND CRAFTS
Create colourful paintings using wonky fruit and veg instead of brushes! We’ll have a selection of fresh but slightly misshapen seasonal produce on hand, ready to be explored, discussed and used to apply paint to paper, resulting in all kinds of weird and wonderful shapes. We’ll then hang your paintings to dry on a magical-looking tree.
THE JOURNEY OF FOOD
Our fun new game encourages children to identify the journeys taken by ingredients from their rawest state to delicious finished foodstuffs.
FACEPAINTING
The amazing Saskia will be offering a free, food-themed facepainting service. Designs are completed in a matter of minutes.
