Borough Market Online service launches

New platform offers the best of the Market, delivered to your door or ready to collect

No institution, however famous, gets to stay the course for 1,000 years without adapting to the changing times. And Borough Market, while deeply attached to its rich heritage, is a place that has never stood still in the face of social and technological change. From its reinvention as a retail market 21 years ago to its pioneering work to eradicate single use plastic, Borough is consistently evolving, and the latest step in its evolution can be seen in the form of the brand new Borough Market Online platform—an innovation that seeks to embrace the convenience of online shopping in a way that increases the accessibility of high quality produce and provides valuable support to its community of independent traders.

Created in partnership with tech and logistics business Good Sixty, which was founded in Bristol in 2016 and currently operates a similar service for local retailers in Bristol and Bath, Borough Market Online offers access to a wide selection of food and drink from dozens of the Market’s traders. Orders can either be delivered at a pre-booked time slot to addresses within a 1.5 mile radius of Borough, using state of the art zero-emission electric cargo bikes, or else be collected from a hub within the Market between noon and 9pm.

There is, of course, no substitute for visiting a market in person—the atmosphere, the interaction, the access to expertise and inspiration. But if what you need is some raw milk cheese, some exceptional pasture-fed meat and a big bag of handmade fudge, and time is too short to be browsing the stalls, Borough Market Online offers a very modern route to satiation.
