Amanda Adiohwo had the idea for Funkee Foods after a visit to her GP in 2019, where she was advised that her blood pressure was higher than it should be and was encouraged to eat more fruit and vegetables. During this time, Amanda noticed that many sauces and chilli oils were either very hot but lacking flavour, or mild and unremarkable. This led her to create her own range of sauces, balancing sweetness, heat and character. Sustainability is also central to Funkee Foods. By using a mix of “imperfect” fruit and vegetables alongside conventional produce, the business develops richer flavours while helping reduce food waste.
